an untold part of her story.......

from the very beginning of our adoption journey to veronica, i have believed that god has been with us, with her, and in every large and small detail of it. i have held true to the fact that god timed everything perfectly, even when i couldn't understand. and, believe me, it is MUCH easier for me to say that now that we are on the other end of this journey. i KNOW how hard it is for adoptive parents to wait, and wait, and wait. and i remember questioning god....why is it taking so long? why are all these extra challenges arising?

but, here is an untold part of veronica's story. one that adds to the many ways god has shown himself to us throughout this process.....

there is another family that adopted from the same region (ust-kamenogorsk) during the fall of last year. we connected with each other through a kazakhstan adoption blog site (many of you know what i'm talking about...yup! lotsofkazblogs.com) as it came close to the time that we were scheduled to travel, this family tried to reach out to us through email. but, strangely, i never received any email from them. so, our blog went private, they were unable to follow along because i didn't realize they wanted an invite, and we left for kaz. we met veronica, fell in love with her, and adopted her (obviously).

when the adoption was final, we made our blog public again, and this other kaz family went back and read through our story. they emailed me again, but i never got it. so, they decided to give up. they thought they had offended me somehow and didn't want to bother me.

so, a month or so passed, veronica came home, henry was born, and life continued. this family continued to read our blog, and decided to reach out one last time. this time, they left a comment on the blog. so, i got it and responded right away. and we heard this incredible story.....

as i said before, this family adopted their child in the fall from the same region. but, it just so happened, that their child was in the same orphanage and the same group as veronica! one morning, as they arrived for their visit with their daughter, they had to wait a few minutes for the caregivers to get her ready. while they waited, there was a little girl, sitting in a high chair , crying and crying. there were two caregivers nearby, chatting with each other, seemingly ignoring this little girl. now, i know that when a child cries ALL THE TIME, you have to ignore it sometimes. and i also know that these caregivers have a lot of children to care for. but, this situation seemed different to them, and it really touched this couple. they said this little girl just looked so pitiful and sad. it took all they had not to go over and comfort her themselves. they decided to pray for this little girl. they committed to pray that a family would come for her SOON.

months later, when this family was reading through my blog, they saw the little girl that they had been praying for.....veronica! they were overjoyed! they even sent me a picture of veronica taken months before we met her. you can see her in the back with the pink striped shirt on....15 months old.

i believe that god heard their prayers....and answered them! i know that god had his hand in every detail of this story. i am so thankful for this family and their faith and persistance :)

And here's another crazy thing.... that shirt she's wearing in the photo is one that we donated to the BH when we came back on trip #2 for Cecelia.
