our meetcha day....one year anniversary

there are a lot of days to celebrate with adoption....the day the court grants the adoption, the day the appeal period is over, the day you bust your child out of the baby house, the day your child comes home forever. but for me, one of the most special is the day i meet my daughter.

in a lot of ways, it is like when you see your child for the first time after they have been born. the moment i met veronica will always be such a vivid memory. i can still feel the anticipation of waiting in the directors office. i can still feel my stomach do flips when i saw only her little shoes and bright blue tights in the reflection of a mirror. i can still feel the tears welling in my eyes when i saw her sweet face and they handed her to me. i remember them telling me her name and thinking...that is a perfect name. i don't think i stopped smiling the entire time.

that was the moment i met my daughter. my beautiful, tiny, blonde haired daughter. i didn't realize how much i could possibly love this little girl.

do you remember this little face?

oh, how far we have come in a year.

today we will celebrate the day we met miss v. we will look at pictures, read our past blog posts, eat some cake (not anything nearly as good as the desserts in the bakery in ust), and, of course, she will wear some ust-kam tights!

one year ago today, my life changed forever.
